Our process is very simple.
Diagnose the issue, provide an extensive estimate and discuss all possible solutions with the client. Once the client is comfortable with the solution and we have answered any and all questions, we move forward with the repairs. Communication is always paramount so if anything (material) outside of the estimate is discovered, work stops and another discussion is had with the client to ensure everyone is aware of the steps required going forward.
